मदुरै में कण्णगी के बेक़सूर पति कोवलन को राजा ने मरवा दिया। रानी की पायल में मोती, कण्णगी की पायल में माणिक — टूटी पायल ने सच बता दिया। फिर पहाड़ पार करके केरल… किल्ली नदी के किनारे एक छोटी-सी बच्ची, सपने में देवी, उपवन में तीन रेखाएँ — मान्यता है, ऐसे बना आट्टुकाल मंदिर।
(In Madurai the king had Kannagi’s innocent husband Kovalan executed. The queen’s anklet held pearls, Kannagi’s held rubies, and the broken anklet told the truth. Then over the mountains to Kerala… a little girl at the Killi river, the Devi in a dream, three lines in the grove. So, it is believed, came the Attukal temple.)
