๐ Guruvayurappa Sharanam! Chembai Story ๐ถ
1952. In the middle of a concert, the great Carnatic singer Chembai Vaidyanatha Bhagavathar suddenly lost his voice. Doctors, vaidyans, medicinesโฆ nothing worked. Heartbroken, he went to Guruvayur.
An old vaidyan's treatment, and just one name in his heartโฆ then one morning, in the Guruvayur courtyard, his voice rose again. All his life, Chembai believed it was Guruvayurappan's grace.
๐ถ Even today, before every Ekadasi, Guruvayur holds the Chembai Sangeetholsavam, where hundreds of singers offer their music. Guruvayur Ekadasi: 21 November 2026.
